A Vatican researcher and historian Barbara Frale claimed that the Shroud of Turin, the cloth believed by many as Jesus’ burial cloth, was indeed authentic.
For many, scholars considered the Shroud of Turin as a medieval forgery. One of their strong arguments were the results of the radiocarbon dating done on the shroud in the past saying that it was made between 13th and 14th century. Frale, on the other hand, tried to prove that it was real claiming that Jesus’ death certificate was imprinted on the shroud.
Frale said she harnessed the use of computers to make the faint marks on the shroud more visible. She said that Greek, Latin and Aramaic characters were scattered around the piece of cloth. She said the faint text was Jesus Christ’s death certificate.
With her recent claims, more scholars have reacted on her findings. Antonio Lombatti, a church historian, even said “People work on grainy photos and think they see things. It’s all the result of imagination and computer software.”
Do you think believe Frale’s claims or not?
