Sea Shepherd New Boat – Whale Wars Video Clip – The whale wars became intensified between Sea Shepherd Conservation Society ships and the Japanes Whalers now since the Sea Shepherd new boat Ady Gil, has been rammed by Japanese Whaler Shonan Maru No. 2.
The Seas Shepherd Conservation Society now is claiming that their new boat, a powered catamaran, was intentionally rammed by a Japanese security ship guarding a whaling fleet.
The incident took place at 64 Degrees and 03 Minutes South and 143 Degrees and 09 Minutes East and according to eyewitness Captain Chuck Swift on the Bob Barker, the attack happened while the vessels were dead in the water.
The Shonan Maru No. 2 suddenly started up and deliberately rammed the Sea Shepherd Ady Gil ripping eight feet of the bow of the vessel completely off. According to Captain Swift, the vessel does not look like it will be saved.
Please watch the video footage below from but I know its still hard to tell and it seems that the Ady Gil was intentionally rammed.

I’ve seen this whale wars show. Funny how the “Captain” has been doing everything possible to stop the fleet for four years yet calls this an unprovoked attack
@ Homer – exactly! They throw their ‘stink bombs’ (or at least did, until the Japanese outsmarted them with nets), chase them around the southern ocean and generally molest them like little flies, yet he calls this an ‘unprovoked’ attack!
Wouldn’t surprise me if Watson told the boat to get hit, just like when he staged the whole shooting incident a while back.
I say it’s about time for the Japanese to ram ALL of their ships – heaven knows they’re all floating piles of crap anyway.
If you watch the video taken from the deck of the jap ship, it is evident that the sea shepard boat sped up directly into the Japanese ship-see the increase in relative speed by the increased turbulence at the stern of the black boat- it was sea shepard’s fault, they should be prosecuted.
you think all of the people on board would rather risk dying – are you all morons ??- they were trying to avoid the ship – oh never mind they are just killing whales after all
The Japanese have rammed ships before. During World War II a Japanese Destroyer rammed the PT109 commanded by John F. Kennedy. The Sea Shepard Crew should have anticipated the use of DEADLY FORCE by the Japanese. The Sea Shepard organization should (a) think about using disposable vessels or (b) start equipping your vessels with TORPEDOES!
They weren’t trying to avoid the ship – dr m’s right. You can see the water behind the boat get agitated when the prop starts spinning.
If they were trying to avoid the ship, why did they even let it get that close to begin with? You can’t tell me they ‘just didn’t see it coming.’
They’re WAY more maneuverable in that little boat than the big jap ship is – guaranteed they put themselves in the way just enough to cause a scene, without hurting themselves, of course.
What a bunch of lunatics.
I watch the show as well, and I do believe that some of their tactics are questionable, but they are trying to stop innocent animals from being slaughtered. Who would intentionally throw themselves in front of a boat, risk many lives, AND ruin millions of dollars in equipment ? Get a grip, or how about a conscious !
I think it’s great! Poaching animals should be stopped at all cost, to included elephants.
If you watch the video from the Bob Barker it is CLEARLY evident that the Jap ship turn its boat right at them with the intention of hitting the ship. If you pay attention as an experienced seaman myself the wake of the Ady Gil does NOT move until the captain realizes he is about to be hit. The only thing Paul Watson is wrong on is the Ady Gil did not reverse the boat however the Captain at a nervous moment tried to hit the throttle and turn star to avoid(a common error) however it was too late. There is no way the jap ship did not try to hit them. That boat was their saving grace no one wants to lose that. And I’m not saying Watson is a saint however he has aimed at MUCH larger targets. The jap ship risked lives today and should be punished severely!!!!!!!! Wait until an American gets injured or killed, the whaling will fianally end!!! We don’t put up with that bullshit!
Yep, dr m is right. You can clearly see the Ady Gil skipper has put the power on, thrusting the craft into the path of the whaler at the last minute. Good job those idiots taking that stupid boat down there and playing pirates with whalers.
Who are they anyway to tell the japanese they cant eat whales anyway.. whose ancestors hunted whales to near extinction over the last 300 years, just for for oil in their heads and the blubber?
The worlds fastest ocean going craft run down by a whaler!! sounds as stupid as a mIG jet being rammed by a lumbering prop driven spy plane…..
@ Ken – you think the Jap ship turned ‘on a dime’ to hit them? Really? That big ‘ol thing? And if you really are ‘an experienced seaman yourself,’ how do you explain the fact that the captain of that little ‘batboat’ Ady Gil didn’t move before the jap ship was literally on top of them>
@Brittany – first off, I think you mean a ‘conscience,’ not a ‘conscious.’ We’re all conscious. Secondly, the Sea Shepherds boast over and over again about how they’re willing to ‘die for the whales.’ Third, the jap ship could have been damaged as well if they intentionally hit the Ady Gil – why would the japs risk that?
It’s all just a big stunt to make everyone think the japs are big meanies.
Also – Minke whales are not even a threatened species! Their conservation status is ‘Least Concern,’ and Japan has set a quota of only 10 fin whales per year – hardly a number that’s going to deplete their population. More of them die from getting hit by ships than from the jap whalers.
If the japanese were to have their way, they would pollute, ruin, and run all wildlife into exctinction.
B Donkey – those same Japanese who live under the strictest smog regulations in the world?
joe blow, firstly your wrong about a couple of facts. the japanese ship is made of steel and has a reinforced hull to deflect ice while the ady gil was made up of carbon fiber. the japanese captain took little risk to his own vessel when he rammed the ady gil. secondly, if you look up the list of endangered species you will indeed find the minke whale there.the fact of the matter is those waters are off limits to the japanese whalers by international law and they flagrently violate that law in the name of profit. why dont you go out and educate yourself and rent a copy of the cove to see how the japanese fishermen treat dolphins and whales!
