President Day 2010: Is President day A Federal Holiday?: Are Banks Closed on Presidents Day?– Today, February 15, 2010 is Presidents Day in the United States, a United States federal holiday, which means most of the offices and government buildings are closed. Is open to the heads of the banks today? Most of the banks. You need to call your bank if you intend to have transactions today.

Washington Birthday Festival, the festival was originally implemented by the Federal Congress of the United States in 1880 to government offices in the District of Columbia (20 Statute. 277), and expanded in 1885 to include all federal offices (23 Statute. 516).

The first federal holiday to honor an American citizen, the holiday was celebrated in Washington on the occasion of Eid actual birthday, 22 February. At January 1, 1971, afederal holiday was transferred to the third Monday in February by the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. The draft of the Uniform Holidays Bill of 1968 had been renamed in the Presidents Day holiday in honor of the birthdays of both Washington and Lincoln, but this proposal failed in the Committee and the bill to be voted on and signed into law on June 28, 1968 kept the name of Washington’s Birthday holiday .

Are banks open President’s Day 2010? How about mail on President’s Day – is it delivered?

These are popular questions this morning. For banks, the answer in most cases is no.

Most banks are closed today since it is an official federal holiday (there are 10 this year). See a list of the 2010 federal holidays here.

Despite the federal holiday, there may be a handful of banks open, so it is best to check with your local bank. And if you have an online bank account, you should >at least be able to access that.

Federal, state, and local government offices nationwide are also closed today due to President’s Day, as well as many schools.
