The American historian and political science professor, Harold Zinn, dies at 87. He is well known as a political activist who wrote about civil rights and liberties and is an anti-war zealot. One of his most popular writings was the 1980 book, A People’s History of the United States.
Howard Zinn also became a history professor at the Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia for almost seven years. He then became a Political Science professor at Boston University for almost 24 years. He treats his writings as non-traditional for they provide other perspectives on American history unlike the poits of view expressed in history books that were deemed “traditional”, which he considers as “limited”. In 1996, Zinn received the Peace Abbey Courage of Conscience Award.
Howard Zinn dies at the age of 87 due to an apparent heart attack while swimming in Santa Monica California. He has a daughter named Myla Kabat-Zinn and a son Jeff Zinn.
