Efren Penaflorida named as 2009 CNN Hero of the Year, for helping poor children. Efren Penaflorida chose education over gang life in Cavite City Philippines and vowed to create a way for other children to make the same choice.
Efren created a program that brings bring books to children in slums and on the streets, and the 10K members of his Dynamic Teen Co. 8586 Inc. have brought reading, writing and hygiene to 1,500 kids.
Efren Peñaflorida will be receiving $100,000 to continue his good work with the Dynamic Teen Company, he was selected after 7 weeks of online voting at CNN.com
